The first feature from writer/director Dilip Mehta, which premiered to great reviews at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival, COOKING WITH STELLA is a quirky, warm-hearted comedy about scheming cook Stella (Seema Biswas) who uses her long-term post as the personal chef to the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi to run an elaborate grey market import business. Her easy lifestyle is ground to a halt when a new and unconventional family of Canadian diplomats arrive - unconventional in that the wife is the diplomat and the husband is a stay at home dad. More pointedly, the husband is a chef who's determined to learn the art of Indian cooking and keeps a constant eye on Stella in the hopes of learning her culinary secrets. In the brief moments when Stella's able to evade the husband, she's forced to deal with a righteous nanny who disapproves of her scheming ways.
Can Stella keep up her countless deceptions, while also maintaining a happy and functional household?
