After finishing college in London, Shakti returns home to his village in India with his girlfriend Anita. As he tried to persuade his father to accept his chosen path of a life in London, things take a turn for the worse his father has a heart attack forcing Shakti to stay at home to fulfill familial duties.

As Shakti now assumes responsibilities he had always shied away from, he finds himself caught in a world torn apart by hatred and violence. VIRASAT chronicles Shakti's efforts to bring about sanity and civility in a village plagued by jealousy, deceit, and struggle for power.

Written by legendary Indian actor Kamal Haasan, VIRASAT is a remake of his Tamil film THEVAR MAGAN. Highlights of VIRASAT that set it apart from the original include an enchanting adaptation to a North Indian milieu aided by spectacular music by Anu Malik, gorgeous cinematography by Ravi K Chandran, and a tour-de-force performance by a cast of some of India's most accomplished actors.
