EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

IFFLA is looking for a highly skilled Executive Director. Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will embrace IFFLA’s mission and integrate it into all festival programs and relationships with audiences, filmmakers, industry and the community at large.  The Executive Director should be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills, decisiveness, respect and inspiration to all involved with IFFLA. Candidates need to be located within commuting distance of Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the board directors and committees to fulfill the organization’s mission and shape the organization’s future
  • Develop an actionable fundraising plan and meet annual fundraising goals, in partnership with board of directors, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources
  • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand on a national and international level
  • Develop strategic partnerships and build trusted relationships with IFFLA´s sponsors, community and industry partners to ensure constistency of the organization’s credibility, and further increase community and industry awareness
  • Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations, and maintain a strong and inclusive work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission
  • Analyze existing internal processes and practices and enhance their effectiveness
  • Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing clear direction for program strategies to ensure high successful programs

Required skills and qualifications

  • A passion for IFFLA’s mission
  • Five or more years of experience in senior management preferable in nonprofit arts organizations, ideally in the field of film
  • Strong and proven experience in fundraising and working with a board of directors
  • Well-versed to South Asian films and the filmmaking community in LA and beyond
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization and can perform under pressure
  • A team player and an excellent communicator able to unify and build support among people at every level (i.e. staff, board, community partners, and sponsors).
  • Experience in building and managing budgets
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills able to convey a focused yet inspiring vision

INDUSTRY DAYS PRODUCER

IFFLA is looking for an experienced producer for our 2nd annual Industry Days program. The ideal candidate must have experience in conceptualizing and running labs, fellowships, film markets and educational programs. The Industry Days producer will provide comprehensive insight, research, and planning to develop an exciting and educational industry forum that should reflect the needs of the South Asian filmmaking communities in LA and beyond. This is a seasonal position starting in January 2025.

Responsibilities: 
  • Conceptualize and determine overall scope and strategy for IFFLA Industry Days, in collaboration with the Executive Director, Festival Producer and programming team
  • Produce the two-day event during IFFLA, including but not limited to panels, masterclasses, mentorship programs, fireside chats, pitch competition, roundtable meetings, and networking events
  • Conceptualize and produce a film market for shortlisted South Asian projects in collaboration with IFFLA’s industry partner organizations
  • Manage the process of submission and selection of projects for the pitch competition and the market
  • Manage a team of coordinators to execute all programs and events for Industry Days, collaborating with the Festival Producer and festival’s production team
  • Create a daily schedule  and ensure all events run smoothly and on time
  • Create programmatic partnerships to benefit the objectives of the programs
  • Provide program descriptions for website, press release and any other marketing materials
  • Work closely with the events, marketing and publicity teams to promote IFFLA Industry Days and ensure enthusiastic target audience participation
  • Attend staff meetings (in person or virtually)

LINE PRODUCER

Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with Festival Producer and managing Director on all festival production elements
  • Supervise the events department (event manager and coordinators) for any filmmaker /industry events, and to create the IFFLA festival lounge
  • Work with festival producer to research and lock vendors and partners for all production and event elements, including meals, decor, technical needs, printing etc
  • Coordinate with all production and event vendors 
  • Manage the production budget and timeline to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Oversee volunteer department and theater operations department
  • Work with the festival video crew to facilitate their needs
  • Participate in weekly calls with festival producer and each department prior to the festival
  • Work with festival producer on:
  • Act as the on-site production contact for all festival venues
  • Manage production office move from IFFLA office to main festival venue before the festival.
  • Work with operations, ticketing and volunteer department to set-up box office, production office and lounge on-site
  • Coordinate production at festival and special events venues, including but not limited to box office, info desks, will call set up, lounge set up, posters onsite and in theaters, staff badges, parking passes, meals as needed
  • Supervise installation/breakdown of red carpet and step & repeat for galas
  • Post festival – ensure the completion of all festival engagements, materials and rental returns
  • Ensure the festival office is returned to an organized state post-fest
  • Submit production wrap report
  • Coordinate other IFFLA duties and responsibilities as requested

DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

IFFLA is hiring a Development Manager to support the organization’s mission to present the most exciting and groundbreaking independent cinema from South Asian and its diasporas, and to offer emerging and established filmmakers numerous industry-facing mentorship, educational and networking opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and cultivate potential donors, including corporate, foundation, and individuals in IFFLA’s community and the areas it serves.
  • Communicate directly with donors by phone/text, email, and in person
  • Liaise with corporations to secure sponsorships
  • Work with the Executive Director, Sponsorship Director and Program staff to draft grant applications, gather application materials and provide timely and accurate reporting
  • Manage an annual calendar of foundation and government grant deadlines
  • Draft and edit written communications, including donor emails and event invitations
  • Participate in the planning and execution of fundraising events
  • Research best practices in development strategies, periodically suggest changes to the Development strategy
  • Attend seasonal Staff meetings (in person and virtually)
  • Other duties as assigned

Reports to the Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in non-profit development field
  • Proven skill as an excellent writer of non-profit communications such as grants, proposals, sponsorship decks and acknowledgment letters
  • Close attention to detail, excellent communication and donor cultivation skills
  • Proactive project manager who works independently and makes continuous systems improvements
  • Experience drafting and monitoring budgets in Excel
  • Experience in the film industry and knowledge of South Asian cinema are highly desired
